MUSIC &
EFFECTS
MEDIACONCEPTS,
with longstanding expertise in AVID, specializes in TV
and film editing. Post production standardly requires
numerous edits, owing to censorship demands and cultural
sensitivities that vary from territory to territory.
Pursuant to each editing project, MEDIACONCEPTS
prepares an Edit Decision List (EDL) of all cuts, which
is fundamental to the creation of Music & Effects tracks
(M&E), referred to as the international version.
M&E
CREATION
MUSIC, SOUND EFFECTS,
FOLEY and BACKGROUND constitute
the Music and Effects tracks. In the process of building
the M&E for the international versions, the dialogue
production track must be extracted. Inevitably, this
also removes all other production sound (ambience, sound
effects, Foley, footsteps, etc.) that must now be
recreated and added seamlessly to produce the final M&E
tracks. The interplay of these discrete audio elements
heightens both the realism and the drama of the visuals
to support and underline the new language dialogue.
M&E
SUPERVISION & REPORTS
All audio elements, original and added tracks, must be
adjusted and nuanced to properly complement one another
before being used on all international versions.
Supervising the M&E is a delicate task, where sound and
treatment must be balanced to allow for proper foreign
dialogue dubbing.
MEDIACONCEPTS
then generates a detailed report, including description
and treatment of all elements. referenced in either foot
& frames or time code. This ensures the accuracy of all
artistic and technical essentials [no omissions, no
distortions, voice treatment, reverbs, audio level,
etc.] occurring in the M&E soundtrack before worldwide
distribution.
